Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems Offers H-MOSS Dimming Wall Switch Sensor
Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems is excited to announce the addition of the new 0-10V Dimming Wall Switch Sensor to the line of load control devices for energy management, an easy way to precisely control lighting levels to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.

The 0-10V Dimming Wall Switch Sensor offers all the benefits of traditional occupancy sensors – but offers much more than traditional ON/OFF control. A 120/277V line voltage switch turns ballasts and LED drivers ON or OFF. The dimming control device adjusts the ballast/driver to dim the lights instead of turning them OFF. It applies a voltage of between 0 and 10V DC to produce various lighting levels. “Raise” and “lower” dimming buttons are featured on the switch. With a 30mA current sinking capacity, the wall switch sensor controls up to 15 IEC 60929 Annex E.2 compliant ballasts/drivers. The switch can be set to turn ON to the same level it was at previously, or to turn ON to a pre-programmed lighting level.

Each switch also incorporates a built-in photocell to further increase energy savings. When sufficient daylight is detected, electric lights can be dimmed or turned OFF to take advantage of natural light.

The switch’s all-digital, passive infrared (PIR) sensor features long-range motion detection, working to sense the difference between heat emitted by moving people and by background heat. When heat from moving people is detected, the sensor keeps the switch ON.

Featuring Hubbell’s breakthrough Adaptive Technology, the 0-10V Dimming Wall Switch Sensor offers a true “install and forget” experience. By constantly analyzing the surrounding environment and occupancy patterns, the wall switch sensor automatically adjusts sensitivity and timers. This eliminates the need for manual adjustments, and maximizes potential energy savings.

“So many things are transforming the lighting industry landscape, including energy conservation initiatives and building codes and standards,” says Félix Pérez, Product Manager, Energy Management for Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems. “Hubbell’s 0-10V Dimming Wall Switch Sensor helps building owners and facilities managers improve the performance of existing lighting systems by offering precise, dimmable lighting control. In addition to simply shutting lights on and off, the wall switch sensor dims lights based on how much daylight is available.”

Hubbell’s new 0-10V Dimming Wall Switch Sensors are compliant with ASHRAE 90.1-2010 standards and Title 24 code. They’re ideal for new construction or retrofit projects, in spaces with incoming natural light like private office and conference rooms.
